Seal Flushing

MTH regenerative turbine pumps are often used as seal water pumps on large flow pumping units. Water is pumped through the seal chambers of these larger pumps at pressures exceeding those found in the seal box. This flushing action is especially helpful in preventing contaminates from reaching the relatively soft mechanical seal faces of the larger pump that could cause very expensive and even catastophic failure. The flushing action is also used to maintain seal face temperatures to within operating specifications that would otherwise cause degradation and failure.
